Why We Now Call The Lifehammer Emergency Hammer

Why we now call the Lifehammer Emergency Hammer..

A few weeks ago we received an email with the request not to use the word Lifehammer anymore. If we continue to use the word Lifehammer for our emergency hammers, this will certainly have legal consequences. The word Lifehammer is a brand and not, as we thought, a general name for a hammer that can break a car window. Now we believe that the word Lifehammer is comparable to the words Aspirin, Chocomel, Duct tape, Photoshop, Googling, Pamper etc.. All words that you use every day without realizing that you are mentioning a brand name / product name.

The lifehammer is a German brand. In 1983 Helmut Lechner invented his first Lifehammer after a car accident in 1982. You can even read on Wikipedia that the word Lifehammer has become a general concept;

“Although Lifehammer is a brand name, it is often synonymous with emergency hammers. This is because the company is one of the best known producers of emergency hammers worldwide, even though the company does not have a monopoly on the product.”

Because we currently do not sell products of the Lifehammer brand, we have decided to replace the word Lifehammer with the word Emergency hammer. We are not out to harm another company by using a brand name.

If you are looking for an emergency hammer that can save your life if, for example, you hit water.
