Pointing out the dangers in traffic

Cars sinking into water is still a common problem in traffic. Not only in the Netherlands but all over the world. Every year an average of 750 cars end up in the water, causing fifty to sixty Dutch people to die. According to studies by the Road Safety Research Foundation (SWOV), accidents involving water often turn out to be more serious than accidents on the road.

Doors and windows are blocked by the water. This seems a logical explanation for a more serious outcome of these types of accidents.

How can we prevent this?

The first thought is to prevent cars from hitting the water. But this can never be completely prevented. Another thought is how do we get people out of the water as quickly and easily as possible? There are several manual tools for this, such as the safety hammer and Life hammer. Preference is given to a safety hammer with a coil spring. If the car has been flooded, an old-fashioned Life hammer is useless, because it is very difficult to hit a window under water. You don't have to use a lot of force with a spring-loaded safety hammer. Put the tool on the window and your window will break. This makes it easier for you to escape from your car. This coil spring system such as the ResQme safety hammer is not yet known to everyone and should in fact be mandatory in every car in the future.

Making a spring-loaded safety hammer mandatory in every car will still take a few years. Until then, the ResQme security key available in our shop.
